Federal Economic Stimulus Information

President Obama signed the newly passed $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 on Tuesday, February 17, 2009.  There is a website dedicated to providing the most updated information about the new bill at  http://www.recovery.gov/

The Town of Loxahatchee Groves worked closely with our planning consultants and the Loxahatchee Groves Water Control District to submit a list of potential transportation projects to the Palm Beach County M.P.O.  The Palm Beach County M.P.O. had an emergency meeting on Thursday, February 19, 2009 to finalize a list of "federally eligibile" transportation projects that will be submitted to the Florida Legislature and F.D.O.T. in the first week of March for final approval.  

Loxahatchee Groves fits into the picture in that the only two roads that are "federally eligible" are Folsom Road and Okeechobee Blvd.  As per direction from the Town Council, the Town submitted for projects on Okeechobee Blvd.  The first project is related to the B Road/Okeechobee Blvd Intersection for a roundabout and the second project (not listed on the document attached) is related to signalization at the F Road/Okeechobee Blvd intersection.  As you will see in the final list passed by the PBC MPO, Loxahatchee Groves made the cut for consideration.  This is no way guarantees that we will get the money.  The County still needs to determine if they are willing to go forward with the project and that we meet all the criteria.  The Town will be working closely with PBC Traffic & Engineering to determine if we are eligible.  We will keep you posted.
